Mirk is a new magazine of fantasy fiction. We will publish quarterly, and we're open to submissions all year round. The magazine will showcase stories by new and established authors, as well as book reviews, opinion pieces, and the odd interview.

Our definition of fantasy is broad, encompassing all sub-genres of fantasy, but we do have a particular interest in epic fantasy.

Who are we?

Mirk is the new sister magazine of Tangled Web Magazine. Our editor-in chief is Craig Kelly.

If your story includes magic, conflict, and perhaps some reworked mythology, then there's a good chance we want to read your work. Stories should be between 1,000 and 6,000 words, in standard manuscript format, and sent as a word document. Our response time averages around 45 to 60 days.

If your story is accepted, we ask for exclusive first publication rights for 1 month before you seek to re-publish your story elsewhere, and non-exclusive rights thereafter. We currently cannot pay contributors to our online issues, but we hope to be in a position to change this in the future.
